Myra J. Schubert is an alumnus of Southern Nazarene University, having received the bachelor of music and master of music degrees in piano performance from Oklahoma University, where her primary professor in piano was Lytle Powell, student of Tobias Matthay. She continued post-graduate piano studies at Oklahoma City University with Dr. Clarence Burg, who also was a student of Matthay, the famed English pedagogue.

Mrs. Schubert has conducted three world tours for the World Nazarene Church, presenting piano concerts, both sacred and classical, in twenty countries. In 1978 she was voted "Outstanding Alumnus" of Southern Nazarene University. In 1979 she was one of three piano teachers in America to receive the National Artist Diploma from the National Guild of Piano Teachers, which involved performing four hours of memorized repertoire and musicianship for an adjudicator. She is a member of the Hall of Fame with the American College of Musicians.

Mrs. Schubert taught piano part-time at Southern Nazarene University for ten years. Currently, she teaches piano, music theory, pedagogy, composition, and improvisation to students of all ages in her private studio in Bethany, OK. She is also the organist at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene where she has been on staff nearly 40 years.

She is a member of Music Teachers National Association, Oklahoma Music Teachers Association (OMTA), Oklahoma City Pianists Club, American Guild of Organists, and is an adjudicator for the National Guild of Piano Teachers and for OMTA.
