Mary Sallee wears many hats as a musician. She holds bachelor’s degrees in piano and voice, and a master’s degree in piano performance and pedagogy, all from the University of Oklahoma. After graduating, she studied for one year at the Hochschule fur Musik in Vienna as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar. Since 1986, she has run an independent piano studio in Norman, OK and specializes in teaching adults. For three years she taught on the adjunct faculty at Oklahoma Baptist University.
As a composer, Mary writes a significant amount of music for her piano students. Several of her 60 publications have made the National Federation list. She also enjoys writing and arranging vocal and choral works, the majority of which are self-published by Acoustic Press. Mary is active as a workshop clinician, adjudicator and conductor and also stays busy running local music festivals, concert series and state competitions. She has been the OMTA state president and completed a term as MTNA Director in 2014.
Mary is a church musician, free-lance accompanist, dinner pianist and has her own jazz ensemble. She enjoys performing as a choral musician and is the recipient of several commissions for church, community and university choirs.
