Elisabeth Howard is the author of the SING! book and 4 CDs, the ABCs of Vocal Harmony book and 4CDs and co-author of the Born to Sing DVD.

Elisabeth has been called a "vocal chameleon." Her expertise and ability to sing in styles from blues, R&B and country western, to jazz, music theater and opera has taken her to ten countries and 23 cities, presenting workshops at national and international voice teachers conferences.

A native New Yorker, Elisabeth Howard holds a BS and MS in voice from the Juilliard School of Music and a Graduate Assistantship from Indiana University. Ms. Howard has been on the voice faculty of Pepperdine University and Hunter College, and a guest faculty member at the University of Southern California.

In 1980, Ms Howard founded the Vocal Power Academy in Los Angeles and in 2006 opened a branch in Las Vegas and Bolzano, Italy. There are certified Vocal Power Instructors in Los Angeles, Texas, Nevada, Italy, Germany and Brazil.

Elisabeth is past president of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Los Angeles chapter and has presented workshops for chapters in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Central Coast, Victoria/Vancouver, Houston, the Western Regional Conference, NATS/MTNA Music Theater III and NATS National Convention. Other workshops and master classes include the Voice Foundation, Savannah Music Festival, MTAC, CAPMT, LA Women in Music, Vocal Mecca and California State University, Fullerton.

International workshops include the International Conference of Voice Teachers (ICVT) in Helsinki, European Voice Teachers Association (EVTA) in Oslo and the Mozarteum in Innsbruck and Salzburg. She has been a featured presenter at National Voice Teachers Conferences in Brescia, Italy; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Adelaide, Australia; Lausanne, Switzerland and Paris, France.

Paige O'Hara (voice of Belle in the film Beauty and the Beast) says, "This training has carried me through years of healthy, professional singing." Her students include well-known actors in films and TV series, recording artists and performers on American Idol, Star Search, Broadway and National tours.

As a music theater performer, Elisabeth has appeared in the rock musical Blood at Joseph Papp's New York Shakespeare Festival and Pins and Needles at the Roundabout Theater in New York City. Regional musicals include the niece in Man of La Mancha, Marsinah in Kismet, female soloist in Jacques Brel, Sharon in Finians Rainbow, Amy in Company, Lady Larkin in Once Upon a Mattress and Rosabella in The Most Happy Fella. As opera performer, her roles include the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, Lucia in Lucia di Lamermoor, Violetta in La Traviata and Sonia in The Merry Widow.

As an oratorio soloist, Elisabeth has been featured with the chorus and orchestras of Hunter College, Long Island University, The Juilliard School and The Telemann Society (at Carnegie Hall and on recording). She has appeared in operatic arias and duets with the Bellflower Symphony and the Cypress Pops Orchestra in California.

An accomplished actress, having studied with Uta Hagen and Herbert Berghof, Elisabeth played the role of Jenny in the summer tour of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie with Kim Hunter, Junia in Brittanicus for the Classical Repertory Theater Company, the Nun in Come to the Station and the Nurse in Harvey in New York City. As a singer/song-writer, Elisabeth was signed to MCA Music.

Elisabeth has been married twenty four years to Geoffrey Forward, actor, producer and director of the Los Angeles Shakespeare Company and author of American Diction for Singers (Alfred Music Publishing), and ProSpeech and Power Speech, distributed by Alfred Music Publishing Co.
