Alex Phan

Alex Phan is the Director of Choral Activities for the North Olmsted School District. He hopes to sustain and build upon the already prestigious accolades of the North Olmsted choir program. Alex graduated from Avon Lake High School in 2003 and received his bachelor’s degree in choral music education at Bowling Green State University, in Bowling Green, Ohio, in 2008. He is also a choral arranger and clinician, and his work is sought after by many middle and high schools, colleges, and professional groups around the country. His charts are featured on the set lists and recordings of many award-winning a cappella groups including Kettering Fairmont’s Eleventh Hour, the first high school a cappella group on NBC’s The Sing-Off, and Fusion. Fusion and Eleventh Hour have received the high honor of acceptance onto the 2010-2011 and 2012-2013 Best of High School A Cappella national compilation album with Alex’s arrangements of “Solitary Shell” by Dream Theater, “Parachute” by Ingrid Michaelson, and “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder. His arrangements have also been nominated for multiple Contemporary A Cappella Recording Association (CARA) awards including “Best High School Arrangement” and “Best High School Solo.” He has acted as an Ohio All-State Choir Chair. Alex lives in Lorain with his wife Kaila and their son Maximus.
